This is a truly amazingly accurate article. I have said for years now that Bin Laden accomplished exactly what he wanted to do with his attacks. They weren’t about killing Americans, they were about destroying America from the inside out. As the author states, “bin laden knew far more about Americans than Americans knew about themselves”. The entire nation has changed immensely since the 9/11 attacks. We’ve become more fearful, more partisan, more unequal (both from a racial and economic perspective). Bin Laden wanted the end of American exceptionalism. He basically wanted to end the American dream, and in many ways, he succeeded.
